WHO IS GOOD SHEPHERD?

Mission (why we are here and what we do):
The mission of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church is to know and praise Christ, to grow in Christ and to share Christ with others.

Vision (where we are going):
We see Good Shepherd Lutheran Church committed to Christ and grounded in Word and Sacrament growing a community of believers. We do this by equipping people of all ages to serve, ministering to our needs and the needs of others with care and love and providing a place of peace, spiritual renewal, and replenishment.

Values (what is important to us):

  • To grow all believers to be disciples (Matthew 28:19)
  • To be focused on the family of God as the foundation of our Christian life
  • To be Grace-centered and Gospel-centered in Jesus Christ
  • To be Scripture-based in preaching, teaching and practice
  • To praise and adore God in worship
  • To encourage teamwork, where the priesthood of all believers is taught and practiced
  • To equip people to intentionally share their faith in everyday life
  • To welcome all who seek to know the Love of God
  • To be intimate with God in prayer
  • To live in the joy of the Lord by giving sacrificially of our time, talent, and treasure to Him
  • To treat everyone with dignity, respect, civility and honesty always thinking and speaking the best of each other, and seeking to trust one another especially on difficult issues

Strategy (how we do it):

  • We bring people to Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit …
  • By providing a Family Life Ministry program that enables families to come together in the name of Christ in their homes as well as at church
  • By providing evangelistic and outreach ministries
  • By presenting a pleasing outward appearance with our church building and grounds
  • We praise Christ …
  • By living a lifestyle of worship in our personal lives
  • By joining with each other and our visitors in church for weekly corporate worship
  • By giving sacrificially of our time, talents and treasures
  • We grow in Christ through educational programs, ministries and activities of people of all ages.
  • We share Christ with others when we enter our own individual social circles with the desire to bring Jesus to those who have not yet discovered the joy of a relationship with Him.
